There are certain things people assume are “over.” Like flip phones. Like skinny jeans (depending on who you ask). Like your church’s slideshow working on the first try. And for some Christians, the gifts of the Holy Spirit end up in that same category— like they were a temporary feature…a kind of “limited-time launch” for the early church. But Pentecost wasn’t a spark that faded— it was the beginning of a new era of God dwelling with His people. So today we’re talking about Continuationist Pneumatology— which is a fancy way of saying: We believe the Holy Spirit still fills believers with power for life and witness, and still gives gifts to build up the church—so that Jesus would be magnified in us, in the church, and among the nations.
In this episode of CLF Conversations, Perry and Pastor Dave continue the Shared Values series by exploring Continuationist Pneumatology—our conviction that Pentecost launched a new era of God dwelling among His people, and that the Holy Spirit still actively works in the church today.
From Exodus 33 and Leviticus 26 to John 14 and Acts 2, they trace the storyline of God’s presence—moving from promise, to fulfillment, to a Spirit-indwelt people. They discuss how the Spirit not only comforts and sanctifies believers, but also empowers them for witness (Acts 1:8) and equips the church through spiritual gifts given “for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7).
This isn’t about chasing experiences or building a platform—it’s about pursuing God’s active presence in a way that is biblical, humble, loving, and edifying, so that Christ would be magnified in our lives, in the church, and among the nations.
